Pink Wizard
Roleplaying Game

Pink Wizard is making a Tabletop Roleplaying System

A slice of life fantasy roleplaying system which aims to capture the essence of online digital roleplaying games with a focus on quick gameplay, discovery, adventure and non-combative professions!

Still in early days, but it’s almost ready to begin widespread playtesting! You can pick up your own digital version of the Alpha here for only $15!

Q. What are some of the core features?

Lore Agnostic

The system is lore agnostic (meaning I've not specifically written a setting or defined rules for specific lore based topics) and you aren’t tied to any campaign genres. So feel free to set your next campaign in whatever setting you like, be it your own homebrew creation or set in your favorite fantasy universe!

The Timeline

The Pink Wizard RPG has done away with initiative and replaces it with “The Timeline”. Each ‘step’ of the timeline you’ll gain an action point, and you'll have the opportunity to spend those action points to take actions whenever you like (or have the action points for it), not in a specific turn order. Bigger actions require more points, which means spending more time saving them up.

The ‘Timeline’ speeds up decision making and allows for unique interactions. Perhaps your foe winds up an attack in a direction, ready to slam it down on the next step of the timeline. Players now have the choice to spend their action points to move out of the way (even if they were saving up for a big move), or perhaps they’re trapped behind enemies and need their party to save them before they are squashed! This reactionary playstyle is fresh and fun and provides players with various options on their turns.

Limited Failure

Gone are the days of hearing “You missed”. In the Pink Wizard RPG, the core design philosophy is ‘everything works’. Attacks always hit. Spells always work. I know that might sound crazy, but hear me out. When you’re attacked, you’ll take damage guaranteed. But it's up to you to use your armour and energy to dodge incoming damage. For effects that control the battlefield, even if the target succeeds on their resistance against the effect, it always momentarily works in a small way. Maybe you try to push a creature 5 paces, but only manage 1 pace, or perhaps you try to stun a creature, even though they resist your spell, they are still momentarily stunned for 1 step of the timeline before shrugging it off.

Non-Combative Professions

Have you ever wanted to run a campaign where it’s not all combat and fighting. Maybe your character wants to settle down for a few months and gather herbs and make potions, or go mining and do some blacksmithing. All is possible in the Pink Wizard RPG. With many non-combative professions like: Fishing, Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Woodcutting and Cooking.

Q. What does the Pink Wizard RPG Roadmap look like?

Writing a RPG system from scratch as a solo creator is difficult, but I’m determined to get this done! The eventual full release is likely a few years off (2028+), but I plan to release in stages over that time as follows:

  • Alpha: Released now! It's everything you need to jump right in and give it a shot. It's still early days and I'm very keen for feedback, so pick up the PDF and start rolling!

    • The goal of Alpha would be to get the system feature complete and ready for balancing

  • Beta: Once I've had some good testing from Alpha, I'll move into Beta. This will have the core features locked down and I'll begin focus testing and balancing on features and mechanics. In this phase, I would also begin designing and fleshing out some optional features and additional source material. People who supported the RPG in Alpha will gain bonuses!

  • Release: The RPG will be released in both a digital and limited physical form! Including a Starter edition as well as the Core edition.
