Pink Wizard
Roleplaying Game
Pink Wizard is making a Tabletop Roleplaying System! It’s a lore agnostic roleplaying system which captures the essence of older digital and tabletop RPGs with a focus on quick modern gameplay, discovery, adventure and non-combative professions!
Still in early days, but it’s almost ready to begin widespread playtesting! You can pick up your own digital version of the Alpha here for only $15!
Q. What are some of the core features?
Lore Agnostic
The system is lore agnostic (meaning not set in or designed around a specific world) you aren’t tied to any campaign genres and are free to set it wherever you like, be it your own homebrew world or your favorite video game!
The Timeline
The Pink Wizard RPG has done away with initiative and replaces it with “The Timeline”. Each ‘step’ of the timeline you’ll gain an action point, and everyone, players and GM controlled characters alike, will have the option to act by spending Action Points. Bigger actions require more points, which means spending more time saving them. The ‘Timeline’ speeds up decision making and allows for unique interactions. Perhaps your big bag guy winds up an attack in a direction, ready to slam it down on the next step. Players now have the choice to spend their action points to move out of the way (even if they were saving up for a big spell), or perhaps they’re trapped or out of action points and need their party to save them before they are squashed. This reactionary playstyle is fresh and fun and provides players with various options on their turns.
No failure
Gone are the days of hearing “You missed”. In the Pink Wizard RPG, the core design philosophy is ‘everything works’. Attacks always hit. Spells always work. I know that might sound crazy, but hear me out. When you’re attacked, you’ll take damage guaranteed. But it's up to you to use your armour and energy to dodge incoming damage. For effects that control the battlefield, even if the target succeeds on their resistance against the effect, it always momentarily works in a small way. Maybe you try to push a creature 5 meters, but only manage 1 meter, or perhaps you try to stun a creature, even though they resist your spell, they are still momentarily stunned for 1 step of the timeline before shrugging it off.
Non-Combative Professions
Have you ever wanted to run a campaign where it’s not all combat and fighting. Maybe your character wants to settle down for a few months and gather herbs and make potions, or go mining and do some blacksmithing. All is possible in the Pink Wizard RPG. With many non-combative professions like: Fishing, Potion crafting, Blacksmithing, Woodcutting and Cooking.
Q. What does the Pink Wizard RPG Roadmap look like?
It’s no doubt that writing a whole RPG system from scratch as a solo creator is difficult, but I’m determined to get this done! The eventual full release is likely a few years off (2027 - 2028), but I plan to release in stages over that time as follows:
-
Alpha: Release everything you need to play to those who support the RPG through small donations. (This could be one off payments or subscriptions). The goal would be to get the RPG feature complete and get early feedback.
-
Beta: Release a beta version which has the core features locked down and begin designing and testing advanced / optional features. People who supported the RPG in Alpha will gain bonuses.
-
Release: The RPG will be in physical form! It will likely have 3 editions, Starter, Core and Enhanced. Those who have been part of the project in Alpha and Beta will be rewarded with additional bonuses!
